Hey! Back at this again with another Picky review right before Black Friday, and I’m pretty excited to try this out. Athé is a new brand to me that I discovered through the Picky reviewer program so let’s get into it!
To start, I received this review for free from Picky and Athé in exchange for my honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This time around, I got three shades to try out; 01 Authentic, 11 Low-Key (balms) and 04 Chili (airy balm). To start, what caught my eye the most for these lippies is the packaging for it. The case is a smooth but satin-matte style, but the lip balm tube in the middle is a pretty shiny chrome. It also came with two styles of decorative items, one was a pink ribbon for the regular balms and the other was a cute keychain for the airy balm. It gives an added layer of personalization and I like it.
The first lippie that I ended up trying was 04 Chili in the tangerine-coloured tube because it was the colour that most people seemed to like, which made me curious because I don’t typically gravitate to really red lip colours. I still have a bit of a baby face depending on how I style my hair so the red lip kind of throws people off I guess, but let me follow that up by saying that Chili is probably the perfect Fall/Winter red for this year. It’s a nice brick-red but it’s not too orangey that you cannot wear it through the winter. This lip balm glides on nicely and the colour seems to be buildable to a degree, though more than two coats and you chance it becoming patchy. This lippie goes down matte/satin matte.
Next up was 01 Authentic, which at first I thought was a pink-clear balm. However, be warned that it’s actually a pink colour when applied, but it’s pretty sheer. I rarely ever touch light pink colours because for the longest time, the colour pink got on my nerves. However, this one is nice. It’s a light and buildable shade of pink that gives your lips a brighter look. It’s easy to apply and light on your lips, and the colour is buildable. Compared to 04 Chili though, the pink stain from this balm will stay for a while so if you wipe this balm off, be prepared for some pink-stained lips for a little while. This lippie goes down with a shiny sheen.
The last one I tried was 11 Low-Key which was the one I was most excited about. Based on the images I saw, this was supposed to be an MLBB pink-brown shade. It shows a bit more red than pink, but it’s still a light enough shade to wear every day. It does layer too, but a lot more red than what I usually go for so after the swipe for the first layer I tap on a second and it creates just the right coverage for me.
Overall, these are very nice lippies and I’m very happy to have been able to try them out. The balms do stay sticky for a while, so prepare to have your hair stick occasionally. My one annoyance with these lippies was the packaging; personally, I do love the magnetic case for ease of opening and closing. However, in the case of Chili, the lipstick protrudes out from the tube barrel a little and it has a chance of just being crushed against the inner edge of the tube. It’s a small annoyance there but not too big of a deal, just gotta pay a bit more attention getting it back into the tube. This issue isn’t seen in the balms, however, because they are flush with the tube barrel.
