What brings back nostalgic memories for you? I find that every generation has a similar trigger that brings back memories, but I wanted to take a deep dive back into my childhood to see what they were. And, if they are similar to anyone else.

First off;   Nostalgia.

A sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations

Personally, I think the two things most likely to trigger my nostalgia would be Barbie movies and Jurassic Park. I wasn’t born yet when Jurassic Park and The Lost World came out, but I remember my parents buying the VCR Tapes. If you don’t know/remember what that is, google it, please lol. I originally was never a fan for Barbie because I always saw it as a *girly* thing, but I’d loved the movies.
To be honest,  I think I really liked the fantasy nature of it, the slight romance and messages behind the movies. I spent a few days catching up on the slightly older barbie movies that came out when I was around 10-ish, I don’t really like the newer ones but eh.
Trailer has unfortunately been removed, it was the trailer for the 12 dancing princesses.
Here’s the trailer for one of my favourite Barbie movies, though my biggest question as a kid was “how can people have 12 children?”. It wasn’t until a few years later when I discovered “19 kids and counting”…..
As for the Jurassic Park franchise, I’d always loved the movies because of the whole dinosaur factor. I’d watch it over and over again when it would show up on TV and I was ecstatic when Jurassic World came out in 2014. If I had a chance, I’d totally go back to Universal Studios/Adventure Island to see the Jurassic Park stuff again.
Some of the Scooby Doo TV series were my favourites and I’d always get up super early before school to catch an episode or two. My two favourites were the 1969-1970’s version (Scooby Doo, where are you?) and the 2002-2006 version (What’s New, Scooby Doo?) reruns. I remember trying to watch some of the newer ones when they slowed the reruns for the 2006 version, but it wasn’t the same.
I don’t believe I was born when this movie came out, but Ghostbusters was a family favourite growing up. Every time I see it I’m transported to 10-year-old me sitting on the couch eating popcorn and trying to get the best view on a small TV screen.
Probably one of the last TV shows/series I’ve seen was probably Totally Spies, I think the last time I saw this was in middle school. I swear, I can still picture the ringtone that started the theme song and it brings fond memories of catching an episode before going to school. Of all three characters, my favourite was Sam though I’ll never be as smart as her and never was lol.

I also read a lot as a kid, and it’s something that I’ve kept up with even after all these years. But for the life of me, I probably couldn’t name some of the stories I read as a young kid. But one that was memorable was a book called Swan Trumpet or something like that, a story about a swan who couldn’t honk. It was a really great book, I’ll have to look it up.
As you may know, I’m a 2001 baby. So by the time we were aware video games were a thing the Nintendo DS lite came out, I still have the old thing though it won’t turn on without being plugged in. I spent so many hours pounding away at the controls, and I even remember the panic I had when I first lost the stylus! Wow, memories.
While we’re still on the topic of the Nintendo DS, my favourite game out of the first R4 I ever had would have to be Harvest Moon. I don’t remember which version it was, but I still have it on my current (updated) R4. This was pretty unusual because if I remember correctly, almost everyone my age at the time were playing the racing games or Mario Party.
To this day, Harvest Moon games bring back some nostalgia and my love for farming games never died lol.
