As the beginning of Autumn approaches, I’ve just realized that I’ve been away from the blog for about a year now. This was so much longer than I planned. How is everyone? A lot, and I mean a lot, has happened since the summer of 2024, so let’s catch up!
For starters, I’m now a college graduate! My last class was back in April, and it was just a waiting (and job searching) game until my official graduation ceremony in June. I wrote some posts about my graduation and grad prep to help anyone expecting to graduate soon, and then promptly got a little busy. It still feels surreal that I’ve graduated after being in school for this long, especially if we count my time in my first college program, which was about two years. I almost felt a little empty for a few weeks after the last day of classes, and on occasion, I still feel that emptiness from time to time.
It’s not that I really miss school; it was alright, and I do have some fond memories. I just feel that I miss having a solid routine that doesn’t really change too much week-to-week. And I think it would get easier as time goes by. But little did I know that I would regret saying that I felt like I wasn’t getting out of the house enough.
As we progressed further into June, I went out almost every weekend because I was no longer held back by summer courses, homework or etc. I went out on coffee chats with old friends, went to festivals, other events in Toronto and etc. And some days I would go to my aunt’s restaurant and cover a shift or two with my mom. This schedule left me with a few days where I’d be home, but it had me feeling drained (socially). As July came, my mom and I went to watch Jurassic World: Rebirth in theatres. If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m a big Jurassic Park/Jurassic World fan. I saw all the movies growing up, and it was cool to see this new one on ScreenX (270-degree screens).

I went out a little less in July, but ended the month with a bang by going to the Black Pink concert! I wasn’t initially planning to go, but my mom came through and got our tickets. I’ve been listening to Black Pink since their debut, and I wasn’t able to go to their concerts in Hamilton over the years, so this was surreal. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I did get emotional during some songs because they reminded me of my time in high school, how far we’ve come, etc. But I was having a lot of fun at the concert. I also had work the next day, so my Loop earbuds definitely saved my eardrums.

July flew by very quickly, and then I got busy again in August, so bear with me here. At the beginning of August, I went on a 3-day trip with my mom and some of her old work colleagues. Personally, Mont Tremblant is beautiful in the summer, but also HOT, oh my word. I’ll make a longer post about it and include some tips if you decide to visit in the summer!

Once we got back, I was preparing myself (and my wallet) for two events/pop-ups happening that weekend. Sweetie Nail Supply’s pop-up and K-Expo Canada. I went to the nail supply pop-up first and was promptly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff that was there. I ended up spending way too much to restock stuff I needed, but it was definitely an enjoyable event, being able to try out everything.

I went to K-Expo the next day, and luckily, there were still tickets for that night’s free concert! Unluckily, my friend and I arrived a little late in the day (on their last day too), so a lot of the activities were filled by the time we got in. The concert was really good though, especially when the lineup was FIFTY FIFTY, CRAVITY and BamBam. I forgot to bring my loop headphones to this concert (we really weren’t expecting there to still be tickets), so my ears rang all the way home that night.

Two weeks later, we went to Toronto K-Fest. I really wanted to go to K-Fest back in 2024 because PurpleKiss was performing, but I ended up flying to California the day before the concert. So I promised myself to try and come to the 2025 one, and no regrets. I was able to grab a Picasso flat foundation brush, one I’ve been trying to get my hands on for a while, and also discovered a new (to me) boy group’s music (Onepact).

And to close out my summer, my mom and I took one of my cousins to the CNE. It was so unplanned and last-minute, but it was a good round of nostalgia. It was a bit of a shame that we had dinner planned elsewhere, because I would have loved to try out the blended lemonade there.
Looking back, so much happened this summer, it’s no wonder I feel like I’m ready to hibernate lmao. But I’m really grateful and feeling really lucky that I was able to do all these things this summer; it feels like a good send-off as a graduate.
