Does the brand name Skin1004 sound familiar? Or perhaps the Madagascar Centella line? Well, the Madagascar Centella line is a very popular product line from the South Korean brand Skin1004. Skin1004 has products that focus on Centella from Madagascar, and the brand itself is all about clean, untouched and pure raw ingredients. I got the chance to review this brightening ampoule through the Picky reviewer program in exchange for a review, so let’s get into it!

I have tried one other ampoule from Skin1004, and that was the Madagascar Centella Ampoule. You can find my initial review on that here.
For those who are new to Skin1004, they are a brand that is all about clean, untouched and pure/raw ingredients. It’s pretty prominent on their site that most of their products are made from Centella. The packaging for both this Brightening Ampoule and the regular Centella Ampoule is very simple, compared to other brands and I really like it.
The main idea here for the Brightening Capsule Ampoule is to strengthen the skin barrier and also brighten your skin tone, with the benefit of being a fast-absorbing product. The main description also says that the product is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.
I have a neutral feeling towards brightening skincare products because depending on the product itself, it can take longer to brighten my complexion – or it could not do anything at all. But this looked really promising which is why I applied to write a review on it.
First glance at the bottle out of the packaging and I just want to say that the bottle is GIGANTIC. It’s about 100mL and is so much bigger than the Centella Ampoule as you can see in the image below.
When I first tried it, it’s got a nice really watery gel-like texture with little white capsules inside, which I believe is the “MadeWhite” portion that helps brighten your skin tone. You can initially feel the little capsules when first applied but they pop (or maybe melt?) into the rest of the product as you work it into your skin. The texture is not super runny, but it’s runny enough that makes it easy to spread.
One thing I was surprised about is that the ampoule is indeed fragrance-free. I was really surprised because normally when a product claims it’s “fragrance-free” it ends up having a super light “green” scent or that “negative ion” type smell – as I like to call it. So to anyone looking at a fragrance-free product, this right here might be your winner.
Now onto the biggest question. Does this ampoule brighten up your skin? The answer is yes. I’ve been using this since the day I got it in the mail (so it’s been just under a month), but I did a dumb and forgot to take pictures before I started using this. However, I can see the difference because my forehead and chin area tend to look really dull during the winter. I don’t know why but it happens, and no amount of exfoliation really helps.
I’ve noticed moderate brightening in those areas since using the ampoule, but I think I’ll get better results with longer continued use (which I plan to do). Another thing to mention is that this ampoule sinks in super quickly and feels light but the hydration power is no less effective. In the winter I typically get dry spots on my cheeks, especially the area before my ears because it’s not covered with a mask or a scarf for the most part.
I focus more of the ampoule there and it’s not as dry as before, I won’t say it’s gone entirely because that area is insanely dry most of the time, but it’s doing a great job to alleviate the uncomfortable dry sensation.
Overall, I would recommend the ampoule for people looking to brighten and strengthen their skin. It retails around $25 USD/$30 CAD for 100mL which isn’t too bad, and a little of it goes a long way.
